Speaking

To Survive and Thrive

Do your firm’s members represent you outside the office? Are they always confident and professional appearing and sounding in those interactions. Do they bring in more clients?

If your firm is going to survive and thrive, you need your members to represent you with professional presence.

The Problems

Many professionals are experts with their content, but they are hesitant about participating in activities outside the office such as networking events and attending conferences, association meetings, and community events.

Some of the people we send out to represent us are not knowledgeable about business etiquette. This can be an embarrassment to them, and to the firm.

Some of our people are introverts who want to be more help with developing business, but they don’t know where to begin to transform into a more effective representative for the firm, and for themselves.

There are many books available about developing confidence, business manners, networking, public speaking, and business development. But who on your team is reading them?

What can you do?

A Solution – A Guide

One solution is a guide to increase the awareness of your staff about the importance of increasing professional presence and to teach the related skills so they can represent the firm and themselves with more confidence and effectiveness, with less stress. I provide programs that will make the difference.

This knowledge and skill will pay off when your team members represent you outside the office. You will maintain the reputation you want and attract more clients because of the confidence and business manners your people display.

I recommend beginning with a one-hour program during a firm retreat or as a program at your office. This program will cover the essentials and make a huge difference, and can conveniently be held on-site during lunch or breakfast.

I provide programs within a 100-mile radius of Lexington, Kentucky, including these cites and those in-between:  Lexington, Louisville, Cincinnati, Morehead, Prestonsburg, Corbin, Glasgow, and Elizabethtown.

To Discuss a Program for Your Firm

Is There A Protocol For That?

YES. THERE IS A PROTOCOL FOR THAT!

Business manners matter.

Do you notice people who exhibit less than professional presence?

Do you wonder if your business manners could use a tune-up?

This workshop will take you through all of the critical facets of business etiquette you need to know to survive business meetings, dinners, receptions and conferences and not embarrass yourself, your organization or your family name.

We ALL can stand to improve in some area, and it matters.

You just might be surprised to discover what you don’t know, but others are noticing about you.

And don’t expect your friends or business associates to point out your less than perfect behavior.

They won’t because people with good manners don’t tell people with bad manners they have bad manners. Because that would be bad manners!

Even in this program, no one will be put on the spot or embarrassed.

That would just be rude! But you will be surprised about what you are doing that is not exactly correct. I guarantee it.

Program Length:

This program can be structured to fit a session duration from one to three hours.

Be Front and Center with Confidence … a Building Block Approach

STAGE FRIGHT!

Does the thought of standing in front of people expressing yourself make you ill? Would you like to be able to stand up and say a few words with confidence?

Are you quiet in meetings, maybe even anxious, afraid you will be asked to contribute?

Has your anxiety stalled your career or your enjoyment in group settings?

Do you wish you had taken steps to overcome this fear before now?

If you are like I was when I was paralyzed with stage fright, you want and need a safe place to discover the basics and get your feet a little wet in front of a small group.

This workshop is for small groups so we can be actively engaged in using a non-threatening building block approach that leads participants through a series of fun exercises as we discover the basics. Group size is determined by the program duration and the outcome goals we establish.

Little by little, baby step by baby step, we get over our fear and realize that this public speaking thing is actually not that bad.

Then we are prepared to take the next steps, at another time, to develop more advanced presentation skills.

This session is a perfect start to playing a bigger role in your business and your community with more effectiveness and less stress.

Program Length:

This program can be structured to fit a session duration from one to eight hours.

I’ll work with you to make this work for your programming.

How to Think on Your Feet … and Speak Off The Cuff with Confidence

Fielding questions can be stressful and detrimental or relaxed and beneficial.

This session will help you learn how to control yourself and the situation to everyone’s advantage.

Do you have opportunities to respond during Q & A sessions and in business related one-to-one situations?

Are these sometimes high-pressure communication experiences and you walk away thinking that you should have responded differently?

Would you like to be confident at “speaking off the cuff” knowing that you are in control and that you will maintain your poise, reputation, and professional appearance?

In this session, you will discover techniques to:

  • Respond to easy questions without saying more than others want to hear.
  • Deal with difficult, negative or hostile questions.
  • Master delivery techniques that will show how professional and in control you are.
  • Be more relaxed and enjoyable to talk with even in general conversation.

Program Length:

This program can be structured to fit a session duration from one to two hours.

I’ll work with you to make this work for your programming.
